Advice to Protect Your Passwords

  1. Anything password less than 8 characters is poor and may be easily deciphered.
  2. Don't use your individual telephone numbers or address as your password.
  3. Never use words in the dictionary as your password
  4. Always log out of your account at the end of the sessions, particularly if you're using a shared or public computer. Just closing the browser you're using isn't enough.
  5. Gradually change your passwords for accounts which you may not consider precious.
  6. Maintain your browsers up-to-date also.
  7. Always lock your smart phone and notebook whenever you aren't using them no matter if you're at home, workplace, college, or anywhere else.
  8. If you have multiple accounts don't use same important questions, password or security questions for all
  9. Use at least one symbol, one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one number in your password
  10. Try not to use your important ids by using the public internet or not log in to your ids on anyone else computer
  11. Encrypt your internet connections when you are traveling like you can set up a private VPN on your server
  12. It is very important to change your password in every 10 weeks.
  13. Try to use any password management software to save your password there or try to remember master passwords for yourself.
  14. Save your passwords on different places, so if you forget your password you can easily get it from the stored location
  15. If 2 step authentication is available please turn it on and try it for sure
  16. Never mention your passwords in the email
  17. Try to differentiate between fake and real emails and text messages. Don't open the links provided in them and don't change the password if they ask you to unless you are completely sure about them.
  18. Install prevention software or intrusion detection software to prevent brute attacks to your system, VPS servers, cloud servers or dedicated servers.
  19. Cookies can damage your machine and can sneak into your two steps verification passwords easily. It's better to shut your gadget off or at least turn off your webs browsers in this way they won't be able to use cookies to get into any of your accounts and keep on cleaning and removing cookies from your machine occasionally
  20. Try not to download apps etc and use on page apps as they are more secure
  21. If you feel unsafe you can use cameras and keyloggers on your system if you want to secure some important files
